Fields Pickard was born in Lee County, son of the late Ella Fields Pickard and
James Clinton Pickard.
He is survived by his wife Nancy House Pickard of the home, daughters Robin
Pickard Matthews, Sanford, N.C., Melody Pickard (Scott) Godfrey, Albemarle, N.C.
a brother Clinton Pickard (Ernestine) of Sanford, N.C., daughter in law Chris
Pickard and seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and two nephews.
He was owner and operator of Carolina Well and Pump Co. until he retired. He was
past president of the N.C. Water Well Association, past president of the South
Atlantic Water Well Association and past president of the National Ground Water
Association.
He was a member of the Sanford Lions Club, the Masons, the Scottish Rite, the
Shrine Club, and the R.E. Lee Society. He had been past chairman of the Lee Co.
Planning Board, Election Board, Recreation Board, Lee Co. Industries and
Railroad House Historical Association.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church and a former deacon.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachael Pickard and Alice P. Utley and
a brother William
James "WJ" Pickard and son, Herbert Ray Pickard.
A visitation will be held on November 20, 2015, from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
with a service following at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 202 Summit Drive,
Sanford, N.C. with a service.
A Masonic Burial will follow the service at Buffalo Cemetery, Carthage St,
Sanford, N.C.
